Elf Town frequently asked questions and answers

General Questions

Is there a shop in Elf Town?

Yes, there will be a coffee shop in the entertainment area and also the very end of your journey. If you want to rest your feet there is a shop selling snacks, tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

Can I get a refund for my Elf Town ticket?

Once a ticket has been purchased, the booking is non-refundable unless government restrictions forbid us from opening.

In the event that you cannot travel or attend for any other reason including sickness, adverse weather, etc we would offer you a free date/time change to attend at another time or a voucher for the full price of your ticket that can be used at any future Elf Town experiences.

 

What are the journey times for Elf Town Dublin?

Your time is included in your booking confirmation

Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time to allow for check in etc.

 

What if I am late/ Early?

If you arrive late for the show you have booked in for, we will get you into the next available show, however, our capacity per show is limited so if there is no room then you will have to wait until a show comes available that is not fully booked.

If you arrive too early you may be asked to wait in the waiting area until your scheduled time for the journey.

 

Why am I being charged for my baby?

As we have limited space per show, everyone that enters has a cover charge. Your baby will get to visit Santa and will also get a small gift from him.

 

Why do adults have to pay?

Due to limited space, everyone that enters has a cover charge. We do require an adult to accompany a child but we do not have a maximum amount of children you can bring in with you. The choice is yours for one adult or 2 to enter Elf Town.

 

Can we take photographs?

You are more than welcome to take pictures in Elf Town, in fact we encourage it. We do have a professional photography service available @ €10 per photo or €15 for 2. This is available at the end of Elf Town when you visit Santa, you can request a professional family photo that comes in an Elf Town frame.

 

Will baby changing facilities be available at Elf Town?

Yes, each building of Elf Town has toilets and changing facilities.

 

Are prams / buggies permitted at Elf Town Dublin?

Buggies / prams must be left in your car or the pram park provided. Prams allowed only in exceptional circumstances, (we will ensure that there is adequate seating in all areas for parents with babies and baby changing facilities are provided also.

*Elf Town remains fully accessible for those using wheelchairs etc*

 

How long should we allow for Elf Town?

You should allow approx 1.5 hours in general. This will begin at your scheduled arrival time.

 

Are you the same Elf Town as previous years?

Yes, Elf Town is run by the same organisers since 2016.

My family member/client is in a wheelchair. Can you accommodate us?

Yes, Elf Town is wheelchair accessible. Please inform the box office of any mobility issues when reserving tickets.

Travel Questions

Elf Town Galway

Are parking facilities available at Elf Town Galway?

Yes, there is ample parking at Elf Town at NO extra cost.

How do we find where Elf Town is located?

Elf Town is located in the Galway race course in Ballybrit, about 6 km outside Galway city. We are very easy accessed from the Limerick, Dublin and Sligo/Mayo road. View the map here 

Finding us by Bus
The 405 comes to the Parkmore road area from Eyre Square. Please note this bus stop is 800m away from the Elf Town main entrance. The road is unlit so it would be advisable to book early tickets (before 3pm arrival time).

Persons arriving on the city bus service 409 from Eyre Square, please note the closest bus stop is on the Parkmore road. This is approx 800m from the ticket desk.

Park and ride service – Persons arriving on the park and ride service, please note, the bus will drop you off at the racecourse, however, there would be a flight of stairs to climb and a 500m walk to the ticket desk from the bus stop.

Yes, there is ample parking in the RDS Simmons Court Entrance

Getting there

Irish Rail – Iarnród Éireann

InterCity Rail services run from 2 different Dublin stations: Heuston Station and Connolly Station:

Heuston Station has trains to and from to Ballina, Westport, Galway, Limerick, Tralee, Cork, Waterford, Portlaoise and Kildare

Connolly Station has trains to/from Belfast, Sligo, Dundalk, Kildare, Longford and Rosslare Europort. The Luas Red Line links the two stations door to door

Heuston Station/Connolly Station to RDS: please visit Transport for Ireland for options.

The RDS is linked to the train stations by the DART at Connolly Station. Connolly Station is linked by the DART service to Lansdowne Station and Sandymount Station both of which are approximately a 5-minute walk from the RDS.

LUAS – Dublin Light Rail

There is no direct route from the LUAS to the RDS. However, the LUAS connects at Connolly Station to the DART system that passes by the RDS. The LUAS stop at Dawson Street is approximately a 30-minute walk from the RDS.

Dublin Bus

The RDS is serviced locally by Dublin Bus from Dublin City Centre, with a number of routes:

4    From Harristown To Monkstown Avenue via Ballsbridge (Anglesea Rd.)

7    From Mountjoy Sq. Towards Loughlinstown/ Cherrywood via Ballsbridge (Anglesea Rd.)

18   From Palmerstown (Old Lucan Rd.) Towards Sandymount via Ballsbridge (Anglesea Rd.)

7a  From Mountjoy Sq. Towards Loughlinstown

27X  From UCD Belfield To Clare Hall Via RDS Ballsbridge

There are also multiple routes serviced to and from the nearby Donnybrook Road, Bus Garage on the N11 which is only 10 minutes walking distance from the RDS. They are 46a, 145, 32x, 39a, 41x, 7b, 51x, 66x and 67x.

Sensory Experience Questions

What is the “Sensory-Friendly” Experience?

A “sensory-friendly” or spectrum inclusive performance is a production that caters to individuals with special needs and sensory conditions such as people living with ASD or associated conditions

The experience is modified to allow for more audience movement, staff and actors are trained to accommodate the needs of the sensory-friendly visitors!

My family member/client is deaf or hard-of-hearing. Will there be ASL interpreters at this performance?

Unfortunately, Elf Town will not have an ASL interpreter.

 

If my family member/client is not able to stay for the entire journey, will we be able to leave the building?

Yes, if the patron decides they cannot remain for the whole experience, they can absolutely leave Elf town early. Staff will be on hand to assist where necessary.

 

Are service animals allowed into Elf Town?

Can I bring edibles, fidget toys, headphones or other items that help my child/family member stay calm?

Of course! We encourage you to bring any items that might make the experience more comfortable and enjoyable.

 

What changes will you be making to the production?

No loud music or abrupt sound effects with a reduced level of general noise. The script will be adjusted to accommodate sensitive ears and eyes.

 

Can people without autism or cognitive and physical disabilities attend this performance?

This performance is designed for people with sensory-input challenges and their families. Not only will the production be slightly changed to fit their needs, but also the environment will be different. The lights will be soft and gentle, with no flashing or intermittent settings.

We want to ensure all visitors and families enjoy a relaxed atmosphere at Elf town.

 

Who should attend this performance?

The sensory-friendly performance is designed for children and adults with sensory input disorders, autism, or other developmental, cognitive and physical disabilities and their families and caretakers.

We promise a fun experience for the entire family. An adult must accompany all children. We encourage caretakers and family members of children with special needs to attend.

 

How long should I allow to bring my family through the experience?

There is no fixed time to move through the sensory journey. Please feel free to take your time or move forward as is comfortable
